Psalms 90:1-17The Eternity of God and the Brevity of Man

Ps.90.1-17
1A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. 2Before the mountains were born, or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 3You return man to dust , saying, “Return, O children of men.” 4For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it passes by, or like a watch in the night. 5You sweep them away as in a sleep; in the morning they are like grass that sprouts anew. 6In the morning it blossoms and sprouts anew; by evening it fades and withers. 7For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath we are terrified. 8You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. 9For all our days fade away in your wrath; we finish our years like a whisper . 10The days of our years are seventy years, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but trouble and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away. 11Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due to you. 12So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13Return, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. 14Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. 15Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. 16Let your work be shown to your servants, and your majesty to their children. 17Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.
