Psalms 6:1-10 — A Prayer for Mercy
Ps.6.1-10
1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to the Sheminith . A psalm of David. 2Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. 3Be gracious to me, Yahweh, for I am languishing; heal me, Yahweh, for my bones are dismayed. 4My soul also is greatly dismayed. But you, Yahweh—how long will you delay? 5Return, Yahweh, deliver my soul; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. 6For in death there is no memory of you; in Sheol , who will give you thanks? 7I am weary with my groaning; every night I flood my bed; I drench my couch with my tears. 8My eye wastes away from grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. 9Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping. 10Yahweh has heard my plea; Yahweh accepts my prayer.
