Psalms 72:1-20A Prayer for the King

Ps.72.1-20
1Of Solomon . O God, give your justice to the king, and your righteousness to the king's son. 2May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. 3May the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills, in righteousness. 4May he judge the poor of the people; may he save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. 5May they fear you while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6May he come down like rain on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. 7May the righteous flourish in his days, and an abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. 8May he rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 9May the desert tribes bow before him, and his enemies lick the dust. 10May the kings of Tarshish and of the islands bring tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts. 11May all kings bow down to him; may all nations serve him. 12For he will deliver the needy who cries out, and the poor who has no helper. 13He will have pity on the weak and the needy, and he will save the lives of the needy. 14He will redeem their life from oppression and violence, and their blood will be precious in his eyes. 15Long may he live! May the gold of Sheba be given to him. May prayer be made for him continually; may they bless him all day long. 16May there be an abundance of grain in the land; on the top of the mountains may its fruit wave like Lebanon; and may those of the city flourish like the grass of the earth. 17May his name endure forever; may his name continue as long as the sun. May they be blessed in him; may all nations call him blessed. 18Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. 19And blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen. 20The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.
