Psalms 132:1-18 — The Lord Chose Zion
Ps.132.1-18
1A song of ascents. Remember, Yahweh, on behalf of David , all his hardships; 2how he swore to Yahweh, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 3"Surely I will not enter the tent of my house, nor will I go up onto my bed; 4I will surely not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids, 5until I find a place for Yahweh, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." 6Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. 7"Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool. 8Arise, Yahweh, to your resting place, you and the Ark of your strength. 9Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your faithful ones shout for joy." 10For the sake of David your servant, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. 11Yahweh swore an oath to David in truth, from which he will not turn back: "I will set the fruit of your body upon your throne. 12If your sons keep my covenant and my testimony that I will teach them, then their sons also will sit upon your throne forever." 13For Yahweh has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: 14"This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. 15I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her faithful ones will shout aloud for joy. 17There I will make a horn sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one. 18His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon him his crown will shine forth."
