Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Introduction
BibleCollab ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our Bible translation collaboration platform.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: email address (for account registration and notifications), display name (shown publicly on your contributions), and your translation comments, suggestions, and votes. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture URL (if provided by Google). We also collect basic usage data such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited for security and internal server analytics purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and maintain the platform, send verification emails and password resets, deliver notification emails about replies and status changes (configurable in your profile settings), display your contributions with your display name, prevent abuse through rate limiting and moderation, and improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns.
Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your display name and contributions (comments, translation suggestions) are publicly visible on the platform. Votes affect public aggregate counts but are not displayed as individually attributed content. We may share specific translation content, suggestions, or comments with third-party Artificial Intelligence (AI) service providers to power features such as AI-assisted review or translation analysis. For our currently configured providers, we require that their terms do not permit using submitted data to train their foundational models. We may share information with law enforcement if required by law. We also use Cloudflare for CDN and security; Google for OAuth authentication; and a third-party SMTP provider for sending emails.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only: a session cookie for authentication (httpOnly, secure, SameSite=Lax), a CSRF protection cookie, and a language preference cookie. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.
Data Security
We protect your data with: HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, encryption of stored sensitive configuration, CSRF protection on all API endpoints, and rate limiting on authentication endpoints. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
Your Rights
You can: view and edit your profile information at any time, change your display name (once per 24 hours), control email notification preferences, and delete your account and anonymize your data. You may also contact us to request a copy of your contributions. To exercise these rights, visit your profile page or contact us.
Children's Privacy
Our platform is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We may notify users of significant changes via on-site announcements or email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
