Psalms 12:1-8 — A Prayer for Help
Ps.12.1-8
1[For the choirmaster. On the Sheminith . A psalm of David.] 2Help, O LORD, for the godly are no more; for the faithful have vanished from among human beings. 3Everyone speaks falsely to his neighbor; they speak with flattering lips and with duplicity of heart. 4May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks boastfully, 5those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are with us—who is master over us?” 6“Because of the oppression of poor people, because of the groaning of needy people, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs .” 7The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen crucible, purified seven times. 8You, O LORD, will protect them; You will guard him from this generation forever.
