Psalms 68:1-35 — God the Victor
Ps.68.1-35
1For the choirmaster . Of David. A Psalm. A song. 2Let God arise; let his enemies be scattered; let those who hate him flee before him. 3As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish before God. 4But the righteous will rejoice; they will exult before God; they will be glad with joy. 5Sing to God, sing praises to his name; build up the way for him who rides through the deserts; Yah is his name; exult before him. 6A father of the fatherless and a judge of widows is God in his holy dwelling. 7God settles the solitary in a home; he brings out prisoners into prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land. 8O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, Selah 9the earth quaked; the heavens also poured down before God, before God at Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. 10You poured out a plentiful rain, O God; when your inheritance was weary, you restored it. 11Your people settled in it; in your goodness, O God, you provided for the poor. 12The Lord gives the word; the women who proclaim the good news are a great host: 13“Kings of armies flee, they flee!” and the woman at home divides the spoil. 14Though you lie among the sheepfolds, the wings of a dove are covered with silver, and her feathers with gleaming gold. 15When the Almighty scattered kings there, it snowed on Zalmon. 16A mountain of God is Mount Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is Mount Bashan. 17Why do you look with envy, O mountains of many peaks, at the mountain God desired for his dwelling? Indeed, the LORD will dwell there forever. 18The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is in the sanctuary . 19You ascended on high; you led captivity captive; you received gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that Yah God might dwell there. 20Blessed be the Lord, who day by day bears our burden, the God of our salvation. Selah 21God is for us a God of deliverances, and to the LORD, the Lord, belong escapes from death. 22Surely God will crush the head of his enemies, the hairy crown of one who walks on in his guilt. 23The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,” 24so that your foot may bathe in blood, and the tongue of your dogs may have its portion from the enemies. 25They have seen your procession, O God, the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary. 26The singers went before, the musicians after them, in the midst of young women playing tambourines. 27In the assemblies bless God, the LORD, from the fountain of Israel. 28There is Benjamin, the little one, leading them; the princes of Judah in their throng; the princes of Zebulun; the princes of Naphtali. 29Your God has commanded your strength. Show strength, O God, you who have worked this for us. 30From your temple above Jerusalem, kings will bring you tribute. 31Rebuke the beast of the reeds , the herd of bulls among the calves of the peoples, trampling on pieces of silver; scatter the peoples who delight in battles. 32Nobles will come from Egypt; Cush will quickly stretch out its hands to God. 33Kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord. Selah 34To him who rides in the ancient highest heavens—behold, he sends out his voice, a mighty voice. 35Ascribe strength to God; over Israel is his majesty, and his strength is in the skies.
