Luke 7:36-50 — Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
Luke.7.36-50
36One of the Pharisees was asking him to eat with him, and he entered the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. 37And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster jar of perfume. 38And standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with her hair, and kept kissing his feet and anointing them with the perfume. 39When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, 'If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, because she is a sinner.' 40And Jesus answered him, 'Simon, I have something to say to you.' And he said, 'Teacher, say it.' 41'A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii , and the other fifty. 42When they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave both. Which of them, then, will love him more?' 43Simon answered, 'The one, I suppose, to whom he freely forgave more.' And he said to him, 'Correctly you have judged.' 44And turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave no water to me for feet , but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair .' 45'You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with perfume. 47For this reason I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much . But the one who is forgiven little loves little.' 48And he said to her, 'Your sins are forgiven.' 49And the other guests who were reclining at the table began to say among themselves, 'Who is this who even forgives sins?' 50And he said to the woman, 'Your faith has saved you; go in peace.'
