Luke 6:1-11 — Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
Luke.6.1-11
1Now it happened on a Sabbath that he was passing through the grainfields, and his disciples were plucking heads of grain and eating them, rubbing them in their hands. 2But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” 3Jesus answered them, “Have you not even read this, what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him?” 4how he entered the house of God and, taking the Bread of the Presence, ate and gave some to those with him, though it is not lawful for anyone to eat it except only the priests?" 5And he was saying to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath .” 6Now it happened on another Sabbath that he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And there was a man there whose right hand was withered. 7And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching him closely to see whether he heals on the Sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against him. 8But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Get up and stand in the middle.” And he rose and stood there. 9Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?” 10And after looking around at them all, he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored . 11But they were filled with fury and were discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.
