Luke 2:41-52 — The Boy Jesus at the Temple

Luke.2.41-52

⁴¹Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. ⁴²And when he was twelve years old, as they were going up according to the custom of the festival, ⁴³and when the days were completed, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. But his parents did not realize it. ⁴⁴Assuming that he was in the traveling company, they went a day's journey, and then they began looking for him among their relatives and acquaintances . ⁴⁵When they did not find him , they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. ⁴⁶And it happened that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. ⁴⁷And all who were listening to him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. ⁴⁸When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” ⁴⁹And he said to them, “Why is it that you were searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house ?” ⁵⁰But they did not understand the statement that he spoke to them. ⁵¹And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he continued to be subject to them. And his mother treasured all the things in her heart. ⁵²And Jesus continued to advance in wisdom and stature , and in favor with God and people.
