Luke 15:1-10 — The Parables of the Lost Sheep and Lost Coin
Luke.15.1-10
1Now all the tax collectors and sinners were drawing near to him to hear him. 2And both the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 3So he told them this parable: 4"What man among you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost one until he finds it? 5And having found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6And coming home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep.' 7I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. 8Or what woman having ten silver coins , if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9And having found it, she calls together her female friends and neighbors , saying, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found the coin that I lost.' 10In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
