Luke 22:54-62 — Peter Disowns Jesus
Luke.22.54-62
54Having seized him, they led him away and brought him into the house of the High Priest. But Peter was following at a distance. 55When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56A servant girl saw him sitting in the firelight, and looking intently at him, she said, “This man also was with him.” 57But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58A little while later, another person saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59After about one hour had passed, another man insisted, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean.” 60But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61And the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before a rooster crows today , you will deny me three times.” 62And having gone outside , he wept bitterly.
