Luke 14:15-24 — The Parable of the Great Banquet
Luke.14.15-24
15Now when one of those reclining at table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.” 16But he said to him, "A certain man was giving a great banquet, and he invited many. 17And he sent his servant at the hour of the banquet to say to those who had been invited, 'Come, because things are now ready .' 18And they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and going out , I have a need to see it. I ask you, have me excused.' 19And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out. I ask you, have me excused.' 20And another said, 'I have married a wife, and because of this I cannot come.' 21And the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.' 22And the servant said, 'Sir, what you commanded has been done, and there is still room.' 23And the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled; 24for I tell you all that none of those men who were invited will taste my banquet .'"
