Luke 12:35-48Watchfulness

Luke.12.35-48
35Let your waists be girded and your lamps kept burning, 36and you yourselves be like men waiting for their master, whenever he might return from the wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open the door for him. 37Blessed are those servants whom the master will find watching when he comes. Truly I tell you that he will gird himself, have them recline at the table, and will come and serve them. 38Even if he comes in the second watch, or even if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are they. 39But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 40You also must be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” 41And Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or also to everyone?” 42And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their measured food ration at the proper time? 43Blessed is that servant whom his master will find doing so when he comes. 44Truly I tell you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46the master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in two, and assign his portion with the unfaithful. 47And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare or do according to his will, will be beaten with many blows. 48But the one who did not know, and did things worthy of blows, will be beaten with few blows. From everyone to whom much was given, much will be required; and from him to whom much was entrusted, they will ask even more.”
