Matt.26.47-56

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the Twelve disciples, came, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸Now the one betraying him had given them a sign, saying, “The one I kiss is he; seize him.” ⁴⁹And immediately he came up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed him. ⁵⁰But Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came for.” Then they came forward, laid hands on Jesus, and seized him. ⁵¹And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and he struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. ⁵²Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” ⁵³Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once put more than twelve legions of angels at my disposal? ⁵⁴How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen this way? ⁵⁵In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to seize me as against a robber? Every day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me .” ⁵⁶But all these things have happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.
