Matthew 10:16-25 — Coming Persecutions
Matt.10.16-25
16Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves. 17But beware of men, for they will hand you over to councils, and they will flog you in their synagogues; 18and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the nations. 19But whenever they hand you over, do not be anxious about how or what you will speak; for what you will speak will be given to you in that hour. 20For it is not you who are speaking, but the Spirit of your Father who is speaking in you. 21Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. 22And you will be hated by all because of my name; but the one who endures to the end, this one will be saved. 23But whenever they persecute you in this city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will by no means finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes. 24A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above his master. 25It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul , how much more the members of his household!
