Matthew 2:13-18 — The Flight to Egypt
Matt.2.13-18
13Now after they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child to destroy him.” 14So he got up, took the child and his mother that night, and departed for Egypt. 15And he remained there until the death of Herod, so that what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” 16Then Herod, realizing that he had been outwitted by the Magi, was furious, and he sent and killed all the boys in Bethlehem and all its surrounding region who were two years old and under, according to the time he had carefully ascertained from the Magi. 17Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, 18“A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning , Rachel weeping for her children; and she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
