Matthew 17:14-23Healing of a Boy; Second Prediction

Matt.17.14-23
14When they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and knelt before him, 15saying, 'Lord, have mercy on my son, because he has seizures and is suffering terribly; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.' 16I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.' 17And Jesus answered, 'O faithless and twisted generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I put up with you? Bring him here to me.' 18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that hour. 19Then the disciples came up to Jesus privately and said, 'Why could we not cast it out?' 20He said to them, 'Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.' 21(Absent from the best manuscripts; some later copies add: 'But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.') 22While they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men,' 23'and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised.' And they were deeply grieved.
