Matthew 23:1-12Warning against Scribes and Pharisees

Matt.23.1-12
1Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples: 2"The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in Moses' seat. 3Therefore, do and keep everything they tell you; but do not act according to their works, for they say and do not do. 4They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with their finger. 5They do all their works to be seen by people; for they broaden their phylacteries and enlarge their tassels , 6and they love the place of honor at banquets and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7the greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called Rabbi by people. 8But you are not to be called Rabbi, for you have one teacher , and you are all brothers. 9And call no one on earth your father, for you have one heavenly Father . 10Nor are you to be called instructors, because your instructor is one, the Christ . 11The greatest among you shall be your servant. 12Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
