Matthew 8:5-13 — The Faith of the Centurion
Matt.8.5-13
5When he entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him, pleading with him 6and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” 7He said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8The centurion answered, "Lord, I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9For I too am a man under authority , having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those following him, "Truly I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such great faith. 11I tell you that many will come from east and west and will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; 12but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 13And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; let it be done for you just as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.
