Matthew 1:18-25 — The Birth of Jesus Christ
Matt.1.18-25
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: After his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit. 19And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20But after he had considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Jesus , for he will save his people from their sins." 22Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying: 23“Behold, the virgin will be pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.” 24When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife home, 25but he did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
