Matthew 14:13-21 — Feeding of the Five Thousand
Matt.14.13-21
13Now when Jesus heard, he withdrew from there by boat to a secluded place by himself. But when the crowds heard, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14When he went ashore , he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick. 15When evening came, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a secluded place, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17But they said to him, “We have nothing here except five loaves and two fish.” 18And he said, “Bring them here to me.” 19Then he directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and spoke a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up twelve full baskets of the broken pieces left over. 21Now those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting women and children .
