Acts 5:1-11Ananias and Sapphira

Acts.5.1-11
1But a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's knowledge, he kept back some of the price , and after bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles' feet. 3But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?” 4While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why did you put this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." 5When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard. 6Then the younger men got up , wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. 7About three hours later, his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8Peter said to her, “Tell me, did you sell the land for this amount?” And she said, “Yes, for this amount.” 9But Peter said to her, “Why is it that you agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord ? Look, the feet of those who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. Then the young men came in, found her dead, carried her out, and buried her beside her husband. 11And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard these things.
