Acts 27:1-12Paul Sails for Rome

Acts.27.1-12
1When they decided that we should set sail for Italy, they handed over Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan Cohort. 2Embarking on an Adramyttian ship that was about to sail to the places along the coast of Asia, we put out to sea, and Aristarchus, a Macedonian from Thessalonica, was with us. 3The next day we landed at Sidon, and Julius treated Paul kindly and permitted him to go to his friends to receive their care. 4Putting out to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus because the winds were against us. 5And when we had sailed across the open sea off the coast of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came down to Myra in Lycia. 6There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing for Italy and put us on board. 7After sailing slowly for many days and arriving with difficulty off Cnidus, because the wind did not allow us to go further, we sailed under the lee of Crete, off Salmone. 8Coasting along it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near which was the city of Lasea. 9Since much time had passed and the voyage was already dangerous because the Fast had already gone by, Paul advised them, 10saying to them, “Men, I can see that the voyage will bring damage and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.” 11But the centurion was persuaded more by the pilot and the ship owner than by what was being said by Paul. 12Because the harbor was unsuitable for wintering, the majority decided to put out to sea from there, hoping that somehow they could reach Phoenix to spend the winter there, a harbor of Crete facing southwest and northwest.
