Acts 6:1-7The Choosing of the Seven

Acts.6.1-7
1In those days, as the disciples were multiplying, a grumbling arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily service. 2So the Twelve summoned the whole multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not right for us to leave the word of God to serve tables.” 3So, brothers, choose from among you seven men who are well attested, full of Spirit and wisdom, whom we will appoint over this task. 4But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the service of the word." 5What they said pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a convert to Judaism from Antioch. 6They set these men before the apostles, and after praying, they laid their hands on them. 7And the word of God kept spreading, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem continued to multiply greatly, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
