Acts 25:1-12Paul's Trial Before Festus

Acts.25.1-12
1Now three days after Festus had arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea. 2And the chief priests and the leaders of the Jews presented their charges against Paul to him, and they urged him, 3asking a favor against Paul, that he would summon him to Jerusalem, because they were preparing an ambush to kill him along the way. 4Festus, however, answered that Paul was being kept in custody in Caesarea, and that he himself was about to leave shortly. 5“Therefore,” he said, “let the leaders among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong in the man, let them accuse him.” 6After spending not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea. On the next day he sat on the judgment seat and ordered Paul to be brought in. 7When Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many serious charges that they could not prove. 8Paul said in his defense, “Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I committed any offense.” 9But Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem to be tried before me there concerning these things?” 10But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well. 11If, then, I am doing wrong and have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if there is nothing to these things of which they accuse me, no one can hand me over to them as a favor. I appeal to Caesar!" 12Then Festus, having conferred with his council of advisors , answered, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go!”
