Acts 20:1-12 — Through Macedonia and Greece; Eutychus Raised
Acts.20.1-12
1After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them and saying farewell, he departed to go to Macedonia . 2And having gone through those regions and having encouraged them with a lengthy message, he came to Greece, 3where he spent three months. When a plot arose against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. 4Sopater son of Pyrrhus , a Berean, accompanied him , along with Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia. 5But these men, having gone ahead, were waiting for us in Troas. 6We sailed away from Philippi after the days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread , and in five days we came to them in Troas, where we stayed for seven days. 7On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. 8Now there were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered together. 9A certain young man named Eutychus was sitting in the window, sinking into a deep sleep while Paul was talking still longer; and being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10But Paul went down, fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.” 11Then he went up, broke the bread , and ate; and after talking for a long time until daybreak, he departed. 12Then they brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted.
