Acts.2.1-13

¹When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in the same place. ²And suddenly a sound came from heaven, like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. ³And tongues as if of fire appeared to them, being distributed, and one rested on each of them. ⁴And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem devout Jews from every nation under heaven. ⁶And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and was thrown into confusion, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect. ⁷And they were astonished and were marveling, saying, “Look, are not these who are speaking Galileans?” ⁸And how is it that we hear, each of us in our own dialect in which we were born? ⁹Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, ¹¹both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own languages the mighty works of God. ¹²And they were all astonished and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” ¹³But others, sneering, were saying, “They are full of sweet wine.”
