Acts 11:19-30The Church in Antioch

Acts.11.19-30
19Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews alone. 20But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, upon coming to Antioch, began speaking also to the Greeks , preaching the good news of the Lord Jesus. 21And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord. 22The report concerning them was heard by the church that was in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch . 23When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with firm purpose of heart; 24for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a considerable crowd was added to the Lord. 25Then Barnabas went off to Tarsus to search for Saul, 26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came about that for a whole year they met with the church and taught a considerable crowd, and that the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. 27Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28And one of them named Agabus stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a great famine was about to come upon the whole inhabited world; which took place under Claudius . 29So the disciples determined, each of them according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea; 30this they also did, sending it to the elders through Barnabas and Saul.
