Acts 21:1-16 — On to Jerusalem
Acts.21.1-16
1When we had been torn away from them, we sailed straight to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara. 2And finding a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. 3After sighting Cyprus and leaving it on the left, we sailed to Syria and put in at Tyre, for there the ship was unloading its cargo. 4And after finding the disciples , we stayed there seven days. Through the Spirit they kept telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 5When it was time for us to complete those days, we departed and went on our way, and all of them, with wives and children, accompanied us as far as outside the city. Kneeling down on the beach, we prayed. 6Then we said farewell to one another, and we went on board the ship, while they returned home. 7We completed the voyage from Tyre and arrived at Ptolemais. After greeting the brothers, we stayed with them for one day. 8On the next day we came to Caesarea , and entering the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, we stayed with him. 9He had four virgin daughters who were prophesying. 10While we were staying there several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea . 11He came to us, took Paul's belt, bound his own feet and hands , and said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says: 'In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and hand him over into the hands of the Gentiles.'” 12When we heard this, both we and the local people pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and crushing my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14Since he would not be persuaded, we fell silent and said, “The Lord's will be done.” 15After these days, we packed our baggage and went up to Jerusalem. 16And some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us, bringing us to Mnason, a Cypriot, an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.
