Isaiah 9:1-7 — A Child Will Be Born
Isa.9.1-7
1The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in a land of deep darkness, a light has dawned. 2You have multiplied the nation, You have increased its joy; they rejoice before You as with the joy at the harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder. 3For the yoke of their burden, and the staff on their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, You have shattered as in the day of Midian . 4For every boot tramping with a rumbling sound, and every garment rolled in blood, will be for burning, as fuel for the fire. 5For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; and the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 6Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of Yahweh of Hosts will accomplish this. 7The Lord has sent a message to Jacob, and it has fallen upon Israel.
