Isaiah 52:13-53:12The Suffering Servant

Isa.52.13-53.12
13Behold, My Servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and be very high. 14Just as many were appalled at you—so marred was his appearance, beyond that of a man, and his form beyond the sons of men— 15so he will sprinkle many nations ; kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what had not been told them they will see, and what they had not heard they will understand.
Chapter 53
1Who has believed what we heard? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no appearance that we should desire him. 3He was despised and forsaken by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with sickness; like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we did not esteem him. 4Surely he has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows; yet we ourselves esteemed him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. 5But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the punishment for our peace was upon him, and by his wound we are healed. 6All of us, like sheep, have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of all of us. 7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a ewe that is silent before her shearers, so he did not open his mouth. 8By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? 9They assigned his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him; he caused him to suffer. If his life is made a guilt offering, he will see offspring, he will prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11From the anguish of his soul he will see and be satisfied ; by his knowledge My righteous Servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will allot him a portion among the many, and he will divide plunder with the strong, because he poured out his life to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and for the transgressors he intervenes .
