Isaiah 33:1-24Distress and Help

Isa.33.1-24
1Woe to you, destroyer, who yourself have not been destroyed; and you traitor, who have not been betrayed! When you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; when you cease betraying, they will betray you. 2Yahweh, be gracious to us; we have waited for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of distress. 3At the sound of the tumult, peoples flee; when you lift yourself up, nations are scattered. 4And your spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers; like a swarm of locusts leaping upon it. 5Yahweh is exalted, for he dwells on high; he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6And he will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of Yahweh is his treasure. 7Behold, their valiant ones cry out in the streets; the messengers of peace weep bitterly. 8The highways are desolate, the traveler has ceased. He has broken the covenant, he has despised the cities, he has no regard for mankind. 9The land mourns and languishes; Lebanon is confounded and withers away. Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves. 10“Now I will arise,” says Yahweh, "Now I will lift myself up; Now I will be exalted. 11You conceive chaff, you give birth to stubble; your breath is a fire that will consume you. 12And the peoples will be burned to lime, like cut thorns they will be set ablaze in the fire." 13Hear, you who are far away, what I have done; and acknowledge, you who are near, my might. 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless: 'Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting flames?' 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands free from holding a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil— 16he will dwell on the heights; his refuge will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be supplied, his water will be sure. 17Your eyes will see the king in his beauty; they will behold a land that stretches far away. 18Your heart will meditate on the terror: 'Where is he who counted? Where is he who weighed? Where is he who counted the towers?' 19You will no longer see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that you cannot comprehend, of a stammering language that has no understanding. 20Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed festivals! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, a tent that will not be moved; its tent pegs will never be pulled up, and none of its cords will be broken. 21But there the Majestic One, Yahweh, will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, where no galley with oars will go, and no majestic warship will pass by. 22For Yahweh is our Judge, Yahweh is our Lawgiver, Yahweh is our King; He will save us. 23Your rigging hangs loose; they cannot hold the base of their mast firm, they cannot spread the sail. Then an abundance of spoil will be divided; even the lame will take the prey. 24And no resident will say, 'I am sick.' The people dwelling there will be forgiven their iniquity .
