Ezekiel 6:1-14 — Prophecy Against the Mountains
Ezek.6.1-14
1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2"Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy to them, 3and say, 'You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh! Thus says the Lord Yahweh to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, am bringing a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places. 4Your altars will become desolate, and your incense altars will be smashed; and I will cast down your slain before your idols. 5I will lay the corpses of the children of Israel before their idols, and I will scatter your bones all around your altars. 6In all your dwelling places, the cities will be laid waste and the high places will become desolate, so that your altars will be laid waste and desecrated, your idols will be smashed and cease to be, your incense altars will be cut down, and your works will be wiped out. 7The slain will fall in your midst, and you will know that I am Yahweh. 8"'Yet I will leave a remnant, in that you will have survivors of the sword among the nations, when you are scattered throughout the lands. 9Then your survivors will remember me among the nations where they are taken captive, how I was broken by their adulterous heart that turned away from me, and by their eyes that played the prostitute after their idols. And they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils that they have committed, for all their abominations. 10And they will know that I am Yahweh; I have not spoken in vain to bring this disaster upon them.' 11“Thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'Strike your hands together, stamp your foot, and say, ”Alas!" because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they will fall by the sword, by famine, and by plague. 12He who is far off will die by the plague, and he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who remains and is besieged will die by famine. Thus I will spend my wrath upon them. 13And you will know that I am Yahweh, when their slain are among their idols all around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, under every green tree, and under every leafy oak—the places where they offered a pleasing aroma to all their idols. 14I will stretch out my hand against them, and I will make the land a desolate waste, from the wilderness to Diblah , in all their dwelling places. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.'"
