Ezekiel 13:1-23Against False Prophets

Ezek.13.1-23
1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying , 2"Son of Man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy out of their own imaginations: 'Hear the word of Yahweh! 3Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4Your prophets, O Israel, have been like foxes among the ruins. 5You have not gone up into the breaches, nor built up a wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle on the day of Yahweh. 6They see false visions and lying divinations. They say, “Yahweh declares,” when Yahweh has not sent them; yet they wait for the fulfillment of their word. 7Have you not seen a false vision and spoken a lying divination, when you say, “Yahweh declares,” even though I have not spoken?' 8Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,' declares the Lord Yahweh. 9'My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, nor will they be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh. 10Because, indeed, because they have led my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace; and when anyone builds a flimsy wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash. 11Tell those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall! A torrential rain will come, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind will break it open. 12Behold, when the wall has fallen, will people not say to you, “Where is the coating with which you plastered it?”' 13Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'I will break it open with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there will be a torrential rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it. 14So I will tear down the wall that you plastered with whitewash and level it to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed. It will fall, and you will be consumed within it. Then you will know that I am Yahweh. 15Thus I will spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who plastered it with whitewash; and I will say to you, "The wall is no more, nor are those who plastered it— 16the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem and who see visions of peace for her when there is no peace," declares the Lord Yahweh.' 17"And you, Son of Man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own imaginations, and prophesy against them, 18and say, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all wrists, and make veils for the heads of people of every height, in order to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, but preserve your own lives? 19You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for scraps of bread, putting to death souls who should not die and keeping alive souls who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies. 20Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against your magic charms with which you hunt souls there like flying birds, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls go, the souls whom you hunt like flying birds. 21I will also tear off your veils and deliver my people from your power , and they will no longer be prey in your hands. Then you will know that I am Yahweh. 22Because you have disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause them pain, and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked so that he does not turn from his evil way to save his life, 23therefore you will no longer see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people from your power . Then you will know that I am Yahweh.'"
