Ezekiel 32:1-32A Lament for Pharaoh

Ezek.32.1-32
1Then, in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month , the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2Son of man, raise a lament over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: You seemed like a young lion among the nations, but you were like a sea monster in the seas; you burst out in your rivers, muddied the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers. 3Thus says Lord Yahweh: I will spread my net over you with an assembly of many peoples, and they will haul you up in my net. 4I will throw you down on the earth; on the open field I will cast you. I will make all the birds of the heavens settle on you, and I will satisfy the beasts of the whole earth with you. 5I will put your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your carcass. 6I will drench the land with your flowing blood up to the mountains, and the ravines will be filled with you. 7When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light. 8All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you, and I will put darkness on your land, declares Lord Yahweh. 9I will trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring news of your downfall among the nations, to lands you have not known. 10I will appall many peoples because of you, and their kings will shudder with horror because of you when I brandish my sword before them; on the day of your downfall they will tremble every moment, each one for his own life. 11For thus says Lord Yahweh: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you. 12By the swords of mighty men I will make your multitude fall; all of them are ruthless ones of the nations. They will devastate the pride of Egypt, and all her multitude will be destroyed. 13I will destroy all her cattle from beside many waters; no human foot will muddy them again, nor will the hoofs of cattle muddy them. 14Then I will let their waters settle, and I will make their rivers flow like oil, declares Lord Yahweh. 15When I make the land of Egypt a desolation, and the land is stripped of all that fills it, when I strike down all who live in it, then they will know that I am Yahweh. 16This is a lament, and they shall lament with it; the daughters of the nations shall lament with it; over Egypt and over all her multitude they shall lament with it, declares Lord Yahweh. 17Then, in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 18Son of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt, and bring her down, her and the daughters of mighty nations, to the earth beneath, with those who go down to the Pit. 19Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid with the uncircumcised. 20They shall fall in the midst of those slain by the sword. The sword is given; drag her away, and all her multitudes. 21The mighty chiefs shall speak to him from the midst of Sheol, with his helpers: They have gone down, they lie still, the uncircumcised, slain by the sword. 22Assyria is there with all her assembly; her graves are all around her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, 23whose graves are set in the deepest parts of the Pit, and her assembly is all around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, those who spread terror in the land of the living. 24Elam is there with all her multitude around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised to the earth beneath, those who spread their terror in the land of the living and bore their shame with those who go down to the Pit. 25Among the slain a bed is made for her with all her multitude; her graves are all around her. All of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, because their terror was spread in the land of the living; and they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit. She is placed among the slain. 26Meshech and Tubal are there with all their multitude; their graves are all around them. All of them are uncircumcised, pierced by the sword, because they spread their terror in the land of the living. 27And they do not lie with the mighty, the fallen from among the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were put under their heads, and whose iniquities are upon their bones , because they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. 28But you shall be shattered in the midst of the uncircumcised and shall lie with those slain by the sword. 29Edom is there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those slain by the sword; they shall lie with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the Pit. 30There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who went down with the slain in shame despite the terror they caused by their might. They lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit. 31Pharaoh will see them and be comforted over all his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, declares Lord Yahweh. 32For I have put my terror in the land of the living, and Pharaoh with all his multitude shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword, declares Lord Yahweh.
