Ezekiel 43:1-27 — God's Glory Returns to the Temple
Ezek.43.1-27
1Then he brought me to the gate, the gate facing east. 2And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the east, and his voice was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone with his glory. 3And the appearance of the vision that I saw was like the vision that I had seen when I came to destroy the city, and like the visions that I had seen by the River Kebar. Then I fell on my face. 4And the glory of the LORD came into the temple by way of the gate facing east. 5Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the temple. 6And I heard someone speaking to me from the temple, while the man was standing beside me. 7And he said to me, "Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will dwell among the children of Israel forever. The house of Israel shall no longer defile my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their prostitution and by the carcasses of their kings in their high places. 8When they set their threshold beside my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only the wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by the abominations that they committed, so I consumed them in my anger. 9Now let them put far from me their prostitution and the carcasses of their kings, and I will dwell among them forever. 10As for you, son of man, tell the house of Israel about the temple, so that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern. 11And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, its exits, its entrances, all its forms, all its statutes, and all its laws; and write it before their eyes, so that they may keep its whole design and all its statutes and carry them out. 12This is the law of the temple: the whole territory on the top of the mountain, all around, shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple. 13And these are the measurements of the altar by cubits, each cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth : the base shall be one cubit deep and one cubit wide, with its rim around its edge one span; and this shall be the height of the altar: 14from the base on the ground to the lower ledge, two cubits, and the ledge one cubit wide; and from the smaller ledge to the greater ledge, four cubits, and the ledge one cubit wide. 15And the altar hearth shall be four cubits high, and from the altar hearth upward there shall be four horns. 16And the altar hearth shall be twelve cubits long by twelve cubits wide, square on its four sides. 17And the ledge shall be fourteen cubits long by fourteen cubits wide on its four sides, with a rim around it half a cubit, and its base one cubit all around; and its steps shall face east." 18Then he said to me, "Son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: These are the statutes of the altar for the day it is made, so that burnt offerings may be offered on it and blood may be splashed on it. 19You shall give to the Levitical priests who are of the offspring of Zadok, who draw near to me to minister to me, declares the Lord GOD, a young bull from the herd for a sin offering. 20And you shall take some of its blood and put it on its four horns, on the four corners of the ledge, and on the rim all around; thus you shall purify it and make atonement for it. 21Then you shall take the bull of the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the appointed place of the temple area, outside the sanctuary. 22And on the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall purify the altar just as they purified it with the bull. 23When you have finished the purification, you shall offer a young bull without blemish and a ram from the flock without blemish. 24You shall present them before the LORD, and the priests shall throw salt on them and offer them up as a burnt offering to the LORD. 25For seven days you shall offer a male goat each day for a sin offering; they shall also offer a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without blemish. 26For seven days they shall make atonement for the altar and cleanse it; so they shall consecrate it . 27And when they have completed these days, then from the eighth day onward the priests shall offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings , and I will accept you, declares the Lord GOD."
