Exodus 27:1-21 — The Altar and the Courtyard

Exod.27.1-21

¹You shall make the altar of acacia wood, five cubit s long and five cubits wide. The altar shall be square, and its height shall be three cubits. ²You shall make its horns on its four corners; its horns shall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlay it with bronze. ³You shall make its pots for removing the ashes, its shovels, its basins, its forks, and its firepans; all its utensils you shall make of bronze. ⁴You shall make for it a grating of bronze mesh, and on the mesh you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners. ⁵You shall put it under the ledge of the altar, beneath it, so that the mesh reaches halfway up the altar. ⁶You shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and you shall overlay them with bronze. ⁷Its poles shall be put into the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when it is carried. ⁸You shall make it hollow, made of boards. As it was shown to you on the mountain, so shall they make it. ⁹You shall make the courtyard of the tabernacle. On the south side, toward the south, there shall be hangings for the courtyard of finely twisted linen, one hundred cubits long for that side. ¹⁰It shall have twenty posts and twenty bronze bases, with silver hooks and silver bands on the posts. ¹¹Likewise on the north side, along its length, there shall be hangings one hundred cubits long, with twenty posts and twenty bronze bases, and with silver hooks and silver bands on the posts. ¹²For the width of the courtyard on the west side there shall be hangings fifty cubits long, with ten posts and ten bases. ¹³And the width of the courtyard on the east side, toward the sunrise, shall be fifty cubits. ¹⁴On the one side there shall be hangings fifteen cubits long, with three posts and three bases. ¹⁵And on the other side there shall be hangings fifteen cubits long, with three posts and three bases. ¹⁶For the gate of the courtyard there shall be a screen twenty cubits long, of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely twisted linen, the work of an embroiderer, with four posts and four bases. ¹⁷All the posts around the courtyard shall be fitted with silver bands; their hooks shall be of silver, and their bases of bronze. ¹⁸The length of the courtyard shall be one hundred cubits, and the width fifty cubits, and the height five cubits, with hangings of finely twisted linen, and bronze bases. ¹⁹All the utensils of the tabernacle for all its service, and all its pegs, and all the pegs of the courtyard, shall be of bronze. ²⁰And you shall command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the light, to keep a lamp burning continually. ²¹In the Tent of Meeting, outside the veil that is before the Testimony , Aaron and his sons shall tend it before the LORD from evening until morning. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout their generations for the people of Israel.
