Mark 5:21-43 — Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman

Mark.5.21-43

²¹And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd was gathered to him, and he was by the sea. ²²And one of the synagogue leaders came, named Jairus, and seeing him, he fell at his feet, ²³and pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live.” ²⁴And he went with him. And a large crowd was following him and pressing against him. ²⁵And a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, ²⁶and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was not helped at all, but rather grew worse, ²⁷having heard about Jesus, came up in the crowd behind him and touched his garment. ²⁸For she was saying, “If I touch even his garments, I will be healed.” ²⁹And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was healed from the affliction. ³⁰And immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” ³¹And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you, and you say, 'Who touched me?'” ³²But he was looking around to see the woman who had done this. ³³Then the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. ³⁴And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace, and be healed from your affliction.” ³⁵While he was still speaking, they came from the synagogue leader's house, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher any further?” ³⁶But Jesus, ignoring the word that was spoken, said to the synagogue leader, “Do not fear, only believe.” ³⁷And he allowed no one to follow with him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. ³⁸And they came to the house of the synagogue leader, and he saw a commotion, and people weeping and wailing loudly. ³⁹And having entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child has not died, but is sleeping.” ⁴⁰And they were laughing at him. But he, having put them all outside, took the father of the child and the mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. ⁴¹And taking hold of the child's hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, get up.” ⁴²And immediately the little girl stood up and began walking around, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were amazed with a great amazement. ⁴³And he strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and he told them to give her something to eat.
