Mark 12:18-27 — Marriage at the Resurrection
Mark.12.18-27
18And Sadducees came to him, who say there is no resurrection, and they were questioning him, saying, 19“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if someone's brother dies and leaves a wife and leaves no child, his brother should take the wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 20There were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and dying left no offspring. 21And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. 22And the seven left no offspring. Last of all, the woman also died. 23In the resurrection , when they rise, whose wife will she be among them? For the seven had her as a wife.” 24Jesus said to them, “Is this not why you are mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26But concerning the dead, that they are raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the Bush , how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob’? 27He is not God of the dead, but of the living . You are greatly mistaken.”
