Mark 8:1-10 — Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
Mark.8.1-10
1In those days, when again there was a great crowd and they had nothing to eat, after summoning the disciples he said to them, 2"I have compassion for the crowd, because they have already remained with me three days and have nothing to eat. 3If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way; and some of them are from far away ." 4His disciples answered him, “Where can anyone get enough loaves here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?” 5And he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.” 6Then he instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground. Taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks, broke them, and kept giving them to his disciples so that they might set them before the crowd. And they set them before the crowd. 7They also had a few small fish, and after blessing them he said that these too should be set before them. 8And they ate and were satisfied. Then they picked up seven large baskets full of broken pieces left over. 9They were about four thousand. Then he sent them away. 10And immediately he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.
