Mark 12:35-44Whose Son Is the Messiah?; Warning Against Teachers; The Widow's Offering

Mark.12.35-44
35As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah is David’s son? 36David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet .”’ 37David himself calls him ‘Lord,’ so how is he his son?” And the large crowd listened to him with delight. 38And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and to be greeted in the marketplaces, 39and to have the seats of honor in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets, 40who devour widows’ houses and, as a pretext, make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.” 41And sitting opposite the treasury, he watched how the crowd was putting money into the treasury. And many rich people were putting in much. 42And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make one quadrans . 43And calling his disciples to him, he said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those putting into the treasury. 44For they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her lack, put in everything she had—all her livelihood.”
