Mark.12.35-44

³⁵As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah is David’s son? ³⁶David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet .”’ ³⁷David himself calls him ‘Lord,’ so how is he his son?” And the large crowd listened to him with delight. ³⁸And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and to be greeted in the marketplaces, ³⁹and to have the seats of honor in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets, ⁴⁰who devour widows’ houses and, as a pretext, make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.” ⁴¹And sitting opposite the treasury, he watched how the crowd was putting money into the treasury. And many rich people were putting in much. ⁴²And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make one quadrans . ⁴³And calling his disciples to him, he said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those putting into the treasury. ⁴⁴For they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her lack, put in everything she had—all her livelihood.”
