Mark 15:16-32The Soldiers Mock Jesus; The Crucifixion

Mark.15.16-32
16Then the soldiers led him away inside the courtyard, that is, the Praetorium, and called together the whole cohort. 17They dressed him in purple, and after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18And they began to salute him: “Hail, King of the Jews!” 19They kept striking his head with a reed and spitting on him; and kneeling down, they bowed before him. 20When they had mocked him, they stripped off the purple and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. 21And they forced a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. 22And they brought him to the place Golgotha, which means, translated, “Place of a Skull.” 23And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24And they crucified him and divided his clothes among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each would take. 25It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26And the inscription stating the charge against him read: “THE KING OF THE JEWS.” 27And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left. 29And those who were passing by were hurling abuse at him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30save yourself by coming down from the cross." 31In the same way the chief priests, mocking among themselves with the scribes, were saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32Let the Christ, the King of Israel , come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe." And those crucified with him were also insulting him.
