Mark 14:43-52 — Jesus Arrested

Mark.14.43-52

⁴³And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas , one of the Twelve, arrived, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴Now his betrayer had given them a pre-arranged signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, he is the one; arrest him and lead him away securely.” ⁴⁵And when he came, he immediately went up to him and said, “Rabbi !” and kissed him fervently. ⁴⁶Then they laid hands on him and arrested him. ⁴⁷But a certain one of the bystanders drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁴⁸And responding, Jesus said to them, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me as you would against a robber? ⁴⁹Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has happened so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled." ⁵⁰And after deserting him, they all fled. ⁵¹And a certain young man was following him, wearing a linen cloth over his naked body; and they seized him , ⁵²but leaving the linen cloth behind, he fled naked.
