Leviticus 5:14-6:7 — The Guilt Offering

Lev.5.14-6.7

¹⁴And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁵If anyone commits a breach of faith and sins unintentionally regarding the holy things of YHWH, then he shall bring his guilt offering to YHWH: an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation in silver shekels, by the sanctuary shekel, for a guilt offering. ¹⁶He shall repay what he has taken from the holy thing and shall add one-fifth to it and give it to the priest. And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven. ¹⁷If anyone sins and does one of any of YHWH's commandments that are not to be done, though he did not know it, then he is guilty and shall bear his guilt. ¹⁸He shall bring to the priest an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his unintentional error that he committed without knowing it, and he shall be forgiven. ¹⁹It is a guilt offering; he has certainly incurred guilt before YHWH.

Chapter 6

¹And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, ²Command Aaron and his sons, saying: This is the instruction of the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. ³The priest shall put on his linen tunic, and he shall put linen undergarments on his body, and he shall remove the ashes to which the fire has reduced the burnt offering on the altar, and place them beside the altar. ⁴Then he shall take off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. ⁵The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and burn on it the fat pieces of the peace offerings. ⁶Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it shall not go out. ⁷And this is the instruction of the grain offering: Aaron's sons shall present it before YHWH , in front of the altar.
