Leviticus 22:1-33Acceptable Sacrifices

Lev.22.1-33
1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2Speak to Aaron and to his sons, so that they keep themselves away from the holy offerings of the Israelites, which they consecrate to me, and do not profane my holy name. I am the LORD. 3Say to them, Throughout your generations, if any man among all your descendants approaches the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD while his uncleanness is upon him, that person shall be cut off from before me. I am the LORD. 4Any man among the descendants of Aaron who has a skin disease or a discharge shall not eat of the holy offerings until he is clean. Whoever touches anything made unclean by a dead person, or a man who has an emission of semen, 5or whoever touches any swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, or any person from whom he contracts uncleanness, whatever that uncleanness may be— 6the person who touches such a thing shall be unclean until evening and shall not eat from the holy offerings unless he has washed his body with water. 7When the sun has set, he shall be clean; afterward he may eat from the holy offerings, because they are his food. 8He shall not eat an animal found dead or torn by beasts, and so become unclean by it. I am the LORD. 9They shall keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die because of it when they profane it. I am the LORD who sanctifies them. 10No unauthorized person shall eat of a holy offering. A lodger of a priest or a hired servant shall not eat of a holy offering. 11But if a priest buys a slave with his money, that person may eat of it, and those born in his house may eat of his food. 12If a priest's daughter is married to an unauthorized man, she shall not eat of the contribution from the holy offerings. 13But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, and has no child, and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. But no unauthorized person shall eat of it. 14If anyone eats a holy offering unintentionally, he shall add a fifth to it and give the holy offering to the priest. 15They shall not profane the holy offerings of the Israelites, which they lift up to the LORD, 16and so cause them to bear guilt requiring reparation when they eat their holy offerings; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them. 17The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 18Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the Israelites, and say to them: Any man from the house of Israel, or from the sojourner in Israel, who presents his offering to the LORD as a burnt offering, whether for any of their vows or any of their freewill offerings, 19that you may be accepted, it shall be a male without blemish from the cattle, sheep, or goats. 20You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be accepted for you. 21When a man offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, whether to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or from the flock, it must be without blemish to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it. 22Anything blind, injured, maimed, or having a wart or scabs or a skin disease, these you shall not offer to the LORD, and you shall not place any of them on the altar as a food offering to the LORD. 23An ox or a sheep with an overgrown or stunted limb you may present as a freewill offering, but for a vow it will not be accepted. 24Anything with testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut you shall not offer to the LORD, and you shall not do this in your land. 25And from the hand of a foreigner you shall not present the food of your God from any of these, because their deformity is in them; there is a blemish in them. They will not be accepted for you. 26The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 27When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day onward it will be accepted as a gift for a food offering to the LORD. 28But you shall not slaughter an ox or a sheep and its young on the same day. 29And when you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted. 30It shall be eaten on that same day; you shall not leave any of it until morning. I am the LORD. 31So you shall keep my commandments and do them. I am the LORD. 32You shall not profane my holy name, but I shall be sanctified among the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you, 33who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD.
