Leviticus 5:1-13Specific Cases of Sin Offering

Lev.5.1-13
1If a person sins in that he hears a public adjuration to testify, and he is a witness—whether he has seen or known of the matter—if he does not report it, then he shall bear his guilt . 2Or if a person touches any unclean thing—whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of an unclean swarming creature—and he is unaware of it, he is unclean and guilty. 3Or if he touches human uncleanness—whatever uncleanness by which one becomes unclean—and he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, then he is guilty. 4Or if a person swears, speaking rashly with his lips to do anything whatsoever, whether evil or good—in whatever matter a person may speak rashly with an oath—and he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, then he is guilty of one of these things. 5When he is guilty of one of these things, he shall confess the sin he has committed. 6And he shall bring his guilt offering to the LORD for the sin he has committed: a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat, for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin. 7But if he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring as his guilt offering for the sin he has committed two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the LORD: one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. 8He shall bring them to the priest, who shall present the one for the sin offering first. He shall wring its head from its neck, but shall not sever it completely. 9He shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be drained out at the base of the altar. It is a sin offering. 10He shall prepare the second bird as a burnt offering according to the ordinance. Thus the priest shall make atonement for him concerning the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven. 11But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he shall bring as his offering for the sin he has committed a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it, nor shall he put any frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering. 12He shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take a handful of it as its memorial portion and burn it on the altar, upon the offerings presented by fire to the LORD. It is a sin offering. 13Thus the priest shall make atonement for him concerning the sin he has committed in any of these things, and he will be forgiven. The remainder shall belong to the priest, like the grain offering.
