Deuteronomy 22:1-30Various Laws Continued

Deut.22.1-30
1You shall not see the ox of your fellow Israelite or his sheep straying and ignore them; you must surely return them to your fellow Israelite. 2If your fellow Israelite does not live near you, or you do not know who it belongs to, you shall bring it into your house, and it shall remain with you until your fellow Israelite comes seeking it; then you shall return it to him. 3You shall do the same with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his cloak, and you shall do the same with anything your fellow Israelite loses and you find; you may not ignore it. 4You shall not see the donkey of your fellow Israelite or his ox fallen on the road and ignore them; you must surely help him lift them up. 5A woman shall not wear a man's gear, and a man shall not put on a woman's garment, for everyone who does these things is abhorrent to the LORD your God. 6If you happen upon a bird's nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with chicks or eggs, and the mother is sitting on the chicks or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother along with the young. 7You must let the mother go, but you may take the young for yourself, so that it may go well with you and you may live long. 8When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you do not bring bloodguilt on your house if someone falls from it. 9You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole yield be forfeited—the seed you sow and the produce of the vineyard. 10You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together. 11You shall not wear cloth made of wool and linen together. 12You shall make tassels for yourself on the four corners of the cloak with which you cover yourself. 13If a man takes a wife, goes in to her, and then hates her, 14and he brings against her a charge of misconduct and gives her a bad name, saying, 'I took this woman, and when I came near her, I did not find evidence of virginity in her,' 15then the father of the young woman and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the young woman's virginity to the elders of the city at the gate. 16And the father of the young woman shall say to the elders, 'I gave my daughter to this man as a wife, and he has come to hate her.' 17And now he is bringing charges, saying, 'I did not find evidence of virginity in your daughter.' But here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity.' And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city. 18Then the elders of that city shall take the man and discipline him. 19They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has given a virgin of Israel a bad name. She shall remain his wife; he may not divorce her all his days. 20But if this charge is true, and evidence of virginity is not found for the young woman, 21then they shall bring the young woman out to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death, because she has committed an outrageous act in Israel by prostituting herself in her father's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 22If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die—the man who lay with the woman and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel. 23If there is a virgin young woman betrothed to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her, 24then you shall bring both of them out to the gate of that city and stone them to death—the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 25But if in the open field the man finds the betrothed young woman, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. 26But you shall do nothing to the young woman; the young woman has committed no sin deserving death. For this case is like that of a man rising against his neighbor and murdering him. 27For he found her in the open field; the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to rescue her. 28If a man finds a virgin young woman who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, 29then the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the father of the young woman, and she shall become his wife because he has humiliated her; he may not divorce her all his days. 30A man must not take his father's wife; he must not violate his father's marriage bed .
