Numbers 30:1-16 — Vows
Num.30.1-16
1Moses spoke to the Israelites according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses. 2Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the Israelites, saying, "This is the word that the LORD has commanded: 3If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind a pledge on himself, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to everything that proceeds from his mouth. 4And if a woman vows a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by a pledge while in her father's house in her youth, 5and her father hears her vow and her pledge by which she has bound herself, and her father keeps silent toward her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she has bound herself shall stand. 6But if her father forbids her on the day he hears of it, none of her vows or her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand; and the LORD will forgive her, because her father forbade her. 7And if she marries a husband, while her vows are upon her, or a rash utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself, 8and her husband hears of it, and keeps silent toward her on the day he hears of it, then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. 9But if on the day her husband hears of it, he forbids her, then he nullifies her vow that is upon her, and the rash utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself; and the LORD will forgive her. 10But the vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, everything by which she has bound herself, shall remain in effect for her. 11And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound herself by a pledge with an oath, 12and her husband heard of it, kept silent toward her, and did not forbid her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she bound herself shall stand. 13But if her husband surely nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that proceeds from her lips concerning her vows or concerning the pledge binding herself shall stand; her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will forgive her. 14Every vow and every binding oath for self-denial , her husband may establish it, or her husband may nullify it. 15But if her husband altogether keeps silent toward her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows or all her pledges that are upon her; he has established them, because he kept silent toward her on the day he heard of them. 16But if he surely nullifies them after he hears of them, then he shall bear her iniquity.
