Numbers 10:1-10 — The Silver Trumpets

Num.10.1-10

¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying: ²"Make for yourself two trumpets of silver; you shall make them of hammered work. They shall be for you for calling the congregation and for having the camps set out. ³When they blow both of them, the whole congregation shall gather to you at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. ⁴But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather to you. ⁵When you blow an alarm blast, the camps that are encamped on the east side shall set out. ⁶When you blow an alarm blast a second time, the camps that are encamped on the south side shall set out. They shall blow an alarm blast for their setting out. ⁷But when convening the assembly, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm blast. ⁸The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be for you as a permanent statute throughout your generations. ⁹When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm blast with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before Yahweh your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. ¹⁰And on the day of your gladness, and at your appointed feasts , and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be for you as a memorial before your God. I am Yahweh your God."
